All About Crystal Bowersox

Crystal Bowersox is a name that has become house hold due to her debut on the ninth season on American Idol. If you do not watch American Idol on a regular basis, it is still possible that you have heard of this up and coming star. Many people are very big fans of the American Idols show and this show has become a platform for many up and coming stars and this allows Americans to watch a performer grow from the time they are discovered until they hit the big time. Bowersox is beginning to show her talent outside of American Idol and the future is very exciting to see where she is going to take her amazing voice next.

Crystal Bowersox was born on August 4, 1985 and she has a fraternal twin brother named Carl Bowersox. She grew up in Ohio and attended school in both Oak Harbor and Toledo. She attended the School for the Arts when she attended school in Toledo and this helped to nourish her voice and help her to hone in on her amazing talent. She sang gospel in her local church and this helped others to hear her amazing talent and enjoy it on a small scale.

It is thought that many of her earliest fans had no idea the treat they were a part of as she later became famous with the help of American Idol. She later moved to Chicago and performed as a street musician in several locations to help her earn money for her talent. She played at places like train stations in her neighborhood and this helped her to earn tips and gratuities for her musical offering.

Crystal is also a single mom of one young son and this has been thought to be some of her motivation on American Idol. Her sons name is Tony and it is said that Crystal has raised him without much assistance. This may have been one of the areas where she draws strength, especially as a performer with an illness.

Many people are unaware that Crystal Bowersox has Type 1 Diabetes and this is something that she has been dealing with most of her life. She struggled with this during the American Idol competition and there was actually a time delay to help her manage her illness as she suffered complications from Diabetes. The judges were very sympathetic of her illness and the male competitors were used in place of the females and this gave her some extra time to recuperate. She was back on stage very quickly, singing her heart out and performing for millions of watchers, and the judges.

Crystal Bowersox auditioned for American Idol in 2007 and she sang “Piece of my Heart”. The guest judge was Shania Twain and she talked very highly of Crystal’s performance and this may have helped her to land a spot on the show. The judges seemed to be very fond of her during her time on the show and there were many positive things said to her after each performance.

When the American Idol competition was ending, Crystal found herself as runner up for the winner. During her final performance she received rave reviews from the notorious Simon Cowell and it looked as though she may win the entire competition, but in the end she was runner up to winner Lee Dewyze.

After American Idol, Crystal Bowersox immediately signed with Jive Records and some of her music has become very popular on ITunes and local radio stations. She dominated most of season 9 of American Idol with solid performances and she is one of the only female performers to have one of the original songs played on the show. She also returned home with a very warm welcome and she performed for her hometown upon her arrival. It is suspected that Bowersox could have a very long career in music and American Idol may have been her stepping stone to a nice, fruitful career.
