Crystal Bowersox, Runner Up On American Idol

If you are a fan of American Idol, then Crystal Bowersox is definitely a name in your vocabulary. Bowersox received fond attention during her audition and her momentum climbed from there. Although she did not win American Idol, she was the runner up and this has been known to launch many careers. Many people voted for her each week and this helped to make her even more popular. She is not a stereotypical idol and this may have added to her appeal while she was on the show.

It seems that the pop star has a distinct look and Crystal Bowers does not fit this typical look. She has tattoos and a more edgy look and this is something that American Idol does not see that often. Many people are drawn to her for possibly being herself, rather then getting caught up in the hype that can lead to someone doing things that are unlike their original self. Crystal stayed true to who she was and this may have helped to make her a household name. Rather then going with the grain, she stood out a little and this helped her to get noticed.

What many people do not know about Crystal Bowersox is that she grew up on a farm in Ohio and she lived attended school in Ohio for the early and teenage years of her life. She later moved to Chicago and she often performed her music on the street and made money on the side this way. She attended a school for performing arts while she still resided in Ohio and this may have laid the foundation for her career late in life.

Crystal Bowersox has always had a passion for music and in addition to singing, she also plays the guitar and harmonica and later learned how to play the piano. This makes her a well versed entertainer and she has many musical skills to draw from. She describes herself as a folk rock, or blues singer and many of her inspirations include Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, and Bonnie Raitt. These were her early influences as a child and helped her to nurture her voice in this alluring way.

During her stint on American Idol Crystal Bowersox became very close to quitting at one point. She closely analyzed the situation and her commitment became stronger then ever when she made the commitment to stay. This is not the first milestone that Crystal would overcome during Idol and right before her last performance of American Idol; her and her boyfriend broke up. She went on and performed that evening and you would have never known that she was in this situation just hours before taking stage.

One of the most raved about songs she performed on American Idol was “People Get Ready”, and this is the moment when many people begin to pay more attention to Crystal Bowersox. She also performed “Bobby McGee” on the show and received rave reviews. Anyone that watches American Idol knows that the judging can be rather harsh, and Crystal wowed the judges time and time again. This can be a hard feat for many, and Crystal always took the judges criticism to heart and it reflected in her next performance.

Even though Crystal Bowersox lost to Lee Dewyze, she was the runner up and has experienced many of the benefits that come with being involved in this type of show. If you keep your eyes and ears open you will be hearing much more from Crystal and she received a record deal the day after she completed Idol. Her career is in the beginning phases and she will quickly launch to the top of her game and she will become even more then a house hold name. She was quickly accepted from her very first audition and America has loved watching her blossom into a star in front of their very eyes.
